This is a one day tour to remember in the company of the world’s oldest living culture. The Traditional Owners of the land introduce you to the art of gathering bush tucker and bush medicine, sharing their unique knowledge of the land and its wildlife.

The exquisite art of the region begins with the raw materials so you and your guides will explore country gathering bark for painting, pandanus for weaving and other fibres for carving. This will make available a deeper appreciation of the many art works at the internationally renowned Maningrida Arts and Culture gallery.

This tour takes you to some of the most sacred places in Arnhem Land where you can view rock art over 10,000 years old and hear the stories of it’s origin, artists and the special significance for Aboriginal culture from your guides, the Traditional Owners.

You are provided with a rare insight into an art that is deeply rooted in traditional culture and connection to country.

Your journey takes you through floodplains and woodlands up to the majestic stone country that protects these precious sites. The Traditional Owners will share the stories of these places and the amazing country on which they live . Learn how to spear a barramundi with a traditional spear or how to avoid the sharp parts of the delicious but snappy Maningrida Mud Crab. Share a traditional meal with the oldest living culture. These hunting and gathering techniques are over 40,000 years old and will have you negotiating mangroves and swamps in search of local delicacies.
