Learn how to spear a barramundi with a traditional spear or how to avoid the sharp parts of the delicious but snappy Maningrida Mud Crab. Share a traditional meal with the oldest living culture. These hunting and gathering techniques are over 40,000 years old and will have you negotiating mangroves and swamps in search of local delicacies. 

You will be filled with more than food as your hosts share the rich stories of their people and the connection they have to the land, a land that boasts some of the most spectacular landscapes Australia has to offer.

The special connection to the country is best displayed in the exquisite art produced in the region. Maningrida Arts and Culture hosts the artists’ work and is on display all year round.

Maningrida Arts & Culture, proudly owned by Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation was formally established in 1973 and is one of the oldest Aboriginal arts centres in Australia. Based in Maningrida community, MAC is currently servicing more than 250 artists from Maningrida and its surrounding 34 outstations, covering an area of more than 10,000 square kilometres.

Physically demanding the day will provide plenty of laughs and new gastronomic experiences.

Sample Itinerary:
At 9:30 am your guides will meet you at  Maningrida airport. You will begin your adventure into Arnhem Land by travelling in a comfortable vehicle to a bush location in the Maningrida region.
Throughout the day you will have the opportunity to:
Hunt and gather bush tucker
Prepare and cook traditional food
Learn about the country and it’s importance to Aboriginal people
Learn about the local wildlife
Visit Maningrida Arts & Culture

Lunch and refreshments for the day will be provided and your hosts will have you safely back at Maningrida airport in time for the 5.00pm flight to Darwin.
